Many years ago Pastor Dan got this need to learn more about God’s
Word. As a kid his parents brought him up in the Christian faith. However, it
was not very deep or detailed. It was the beginning of things that would lead
to where he is today. However, as a child, Dan grew up in an atmosphere of
other kids that would lead him astray into the world of sex, drugs, and rock
and roll. Through many wrong choices, decisions and trouble, as well as
attempted suicide, Dan couldn’t go anywhere but up from that point forward.
Back in 1985, he was searching deeply into the theological
foundation he needed to get well grounded into the Word. A friend, Joel
Steinke, truly introduced him to the Bible and what it truly offers. As well as
buying Dan his first study Bible, the Thompson Chain Reference NIV, Joel also
spent much personal time talking with Dan about the things of life. Oh yes,
there were many more mistakes, trials and tribulations along the way because of
the youth that Dan had. The mistakes were sometimes devastating and caused
relationship issues with others in his life. Then his Mother died in 2000. That
caused him to make a mental change to where he realized that life is much
shorter than you think. Dan spent the next few years singing Christian Music
with a CD he made and concerts he performed at. He opened for Petra, Broomtree,
and more during the early 2000’s. He performed from venue to venue and church
to church. He performed live on Channel 9 in Cincinnati.
Around the time his Dad passed away in 2008, he felt the tug from
God to go to that next level and seek being a Pastor in the Hamilton, Ohio
area. Pastor Dan became ordained April 29, 2008. With Dan’s knowledge about the
Bible and his extensive researching through commentaries, other books and
literature from other well known authors, teachers, scholars and professors of
theology, it was time to take all of this so-called wisdom and put it to use in
Pastoring a church. This is where the roots of Tree of Life Church began.
Here’s a personal message from Pastor Dan: “I want to say
something to all the soothsayers and ridiculing hearts out there: I don’t care
what you think of me or where I came from. It’s only where I am now and where I
am going that matters. If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior,
you cannot know what I am talking about. Therefore, allow me to work in the
Kingdom of God changing lives for the better as God has changed mine. Join with
me in reaching in to their lives so they can no longer be on the path toward
eternal hell and help them reach toward heaven for eternity.”
Tree of Life Church, a local Bible Study at the local YMCA, being
a drummer and vocalist for the Christian Rock Band called Lest We Boast, doing
weekly Bible Study videos on the internet and through emailing hundreds each
week, and Prison Ministry at Warren Correctional Institution in Lebanon, Ohio
all became his passion in 2009-2010 as he and his wife Sandy (and their 3
children) took hold of starting the next steps together in this journey to
reach out to the Hamilton community and help them “seek the Lord
while He may be found.”
Since this vision began, Pastor Dan and his wife Sandy have met
with several other pastors and businesses to help finance the vision for TLC.
At first there were obstacles, as is always expected. Most of those obstacles
are/were:

But, when God
said, “GO!” Pastor Dan listened and went. Since the beginning of
all of this, TLC has reached out in so many different ways.
Many believe in Jesus Christ because Pastor Dan opened his heart
to others. There are many more stories to tell and many years to grow. We ask
that you help grow this vision and mission by sharing in the dream with Pastor
Dan and Sandy in reaching the New Miami and Hamilton, Ohio areas with the
Gospel of Love, Hope and Peace through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
